Books & Beyond Leadership Team

The Books & Beyond Leadership Team builds the capacity of the Global Villageís Books & Beyond project, assisting with volunteer recruitment and training, facilitating weekly meetings, project oversight, and program evaluation. Books & Beyond is a collaborative project of the Indiana Universityís Global Village Living-Learning Center (Bloomington, Indiana), The Project School and Harmony School (Bloomington, Indiana), and Kabwende Primary School (Musanze province, Rwanda).

Martha MidkiffMartha Midkiff – Student Director
Martha is very excited to be a part of Books & Beyond again this year. She traveled to Rwanda two summers ago and had a wonderful experience. Last year, she was the Evaluation Team Lead but is thrilled with her new role as Student Director this year. She is a senior studying Political Science and International Studies, with a minor in African Studies.

Emily LuhnEmily Luhn – Collaborator Team Lead
Emily is a junior at IU and is majoring in English. She has participated in Books & Beyond since her freshmen year and is excited to return this year as the Team Lead of the Collaborators. She enjoys eating, running, watching good shows on Netflix, listening to music, and reading.

Kelsey EndahlKelsey Endahl – Documenting Team Lead
Kelsey has been a member of Books & Beyond since she was a sophomore. As a senior, she now leads the Documenting Team. Her team helps archive B&B and documents the history of what happens throughout the year. She went to Rwanda in the summer of 2013 to help teach the Kabwende Holiday Camp, and wanted to continue to be involved with Books & Beyond.

Tricia DavisTricia Davis – Fund Development Team Lead
Tricia is sophomore majoring in English literature and French. She joined Books & Beyond last year as a member of the Fund Development team. She is excited to continue working with Books & Beyond this year as the lead for the Fund Development team. She enjoys reading, music, and visiting new places.

Angel HarrisAngel Harris – Public Relations Team Lead
Angel is a current senior studying social work. She will be the Public Relations Team Lead for the B&B organization during the Spring 2017 semester. She traveled with B&B in the summer of 2016 to Rwanda to teach at the Kabwende Literacy Camp, where she taught Readerís Theater to over 200 students. She really enjoyed the trip and thinks everyone should go if possible. It was very eye opening and worth the jet lag! She enjoys pampering herself, she has fourteen siblings, and she loves to eat.

Lillie Hartman	Lillie Hartman – Rwandan Culture and Communication Team Lead
Lillie is a sophomore studying Elementary Education, and this is her second year volunteering with Books & Beyond. Last year she was part of the Writing Partners team. She traveled with B&B in the summer of 2016 to Rwanda to teach at the Kabwende Holiday Camp where she taught Readerís Theateróthe trip was truly a life-changing experience for her! She has four siblings and four dogs at home, and that she loves the smell of cows.

Dorothy NguyenDorothy Nguyen – Writing Partner Team Lead
Dorothy is thrilled to join Books & Beyond for a second year. In the year prior, she was a member of the Collaborator and the Writing Partners teams. She is a sophomore majoring in English, but she is also a Hufflepuff, an amateur painter, and an avid pursuer of all things wonderful. Dorothy dreams of one day tramping all over the world and hopes that Rwanda will be her first stop.
